3 May 2013- Radio Apparatus Licence Fees and Procedures .
The Telecommunications and Radiocommunications Regulator (TRR) has, today, released its consultation paper on Radio Apparatus Licence Fees and Procedures, for public comment. This paper addresses the methodology for the new way that TRR intends to set radio apparatus licence fees. The paper also sets out proposed procedures governing licence applications and licence renewal applications.
The deadline for comments to be received by TRR is 4 pm Friday 31 May 2013.
5 April 2013- Recruitment Notice - Consumer Affairs Officer .
TRR is seeking a Consumer Affairs Officer to lead, and coordinate our regulatory consumer focused responsibilities in the Telecommunications/ICT sector. In particular, the Consumer Affairs Officer will provide support in the coordination of disputes between the Telecommunications/ICT operator and consumers; project coordinate all TRR areas of consumer relations and protection, monitor and coordinate the implementation of the Consumer and Advertising Guidelines. A required element is that the Consumer Affairs Officer must work cooperatively with industry, consumers and with TRR team members across all units; including Market and Competition, Technical and Internet Governance, Legal and Corporate Affairs and the Regulator.
25 March 2013- 2013 and Onwards Work Plan .
TRR recognizes the need to keep all appropriate parties well informed of its work to achieve its goals and objectives and is therefore pleased to announce the availability of TRR’s 2013 and Onwards Work Plan which has a forward looking focus. The 2013 and Onwards Work Plan and its associated activities focuses on important aspects expressed in the functions of the TRR Act, the Government’s 2007 Telecommunication Policy Statement and the Priority Action Agenda (PAA).
The primary objectives of the Telecommunications and Radiocommunications Regulator (TRR), in line with the 2009 TRR Act (Act), are to facilitate the development of the telecommunications sector and to manage the radio frequency spectrum, in order to promote national social and economic development. Under Part 8 of the Act, TRR plays a leading role in supporting, promoting and protecting consumer rights.

7 March 2013- Recruitment Notice -World Bank Grant Coordinator .
TRR is seeking a World Bank Grant Coordinator to coordinate and manage a World Bank funded Telecommunications project. . The role includes:
1. Ensuring compliance with World Bank operational and financial Reporting
2. Managing invoices and payments under the Grant
3. Coordination of consultants funded by the Grant
16 January 2013- Telecommunication License Exception to Rensarie College .
On 15 January 2013 TRR granted a telecommunication license exception to Rensarie College pursuant to section 14(1) of the Telecommunications and Radiocommunications Regulation Act 2009 (Act). The exception was granted by TRR following the signing of an Agreement between TRR and Rensarie College (RC), effective from 1 December 2012 (“Agreement”) for the management and operation of the Rensarie Telecentre. The Agreement permits RC through the Rensarie Telecentre to provide a telecommunications services (internet) to the public.
However, given the circumstances of this pilot, and because Rensarie Telecentre is a Government initiated project intended to test the roll out of Broadband internet services in rural areas, the issuing of a license to it is not required, and would not be efficient or necessary for the provision of services rendered to the community and the general public of Rensarie.
4 December 2012- Apparatus Licence & Spectrum Fees Regulation .
TRR has today, published the Official Government Gazette copy of the Radio Apparatus Licence and Spectrum Licence (Fees) Regulation. An approved, but un-gazetted copy was uploaded to the TRR website in November 2012, whilst the document underwent the normal processing period through the Government Gazette.

27 November 2012- Consultation Paper on Future Arrangements of the .vu country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) Management .
Due to a low number of responses and further to requests from stakeholders TRR has extended the deadline for responses to the consultation paper “Consultation on Future Arrangements of the .vu country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) Management.” to the 7th January 2013.
