Role

The Telecommunications and Radiocommunications Regulator (TRR) is a statutory body operating independently from the government. The body has the General Powers and Functions to regulate telecommunications and radiocommunications services in Vanuatu as provided in the Telecommunications and Radiocommunications No.30 of 2009 (the Act). The Regulator reports to and advises the Minister responsible for telecommunications as to policy and making of regulations and any other matter as requested by the Minister.

TRR has to ensure that the Act is implemented, facilitated and enforced. The Act gives power to the Regulator to facilitate the development of the telecommunications sector and manage radio-frequency spectrum in order to promote national, social and economic development.
