As of 31st March 2014, the Regulator has given written consent to Can’L Holding Ltd to transfer its telecommunications licence to Wantok Network Ltd in accordance with the Act. Can’L’s management decided to change their Can’L company name to “Wantok Network Ltd” and discussed this with TRR.

Following discussions with Can’L management, and upon receipt and confirmation of the change of the company’s name with the Vanuatu Financial Service Commission, the Regulator is satisfied and agreed to facilitate the transfer of Can’L licence to its new legal name. The telecommunications licence terms and conditions for Wantok Network Ltd remain the same as they were for Can’L Holding Ltd. TRR will update its licence registry to take into account this change.

The Fiber Optic Submarine Cable landed in Vanuatu late in November 2013. Testing and configuration have been conducted, and commercial negotiations are in hand regarding connectivity to the cable. We note that some licensees and others have posted comments in social media raising their concerns. Below TRR’s official response to the social media comments.

Number range 20 xxx is allocated to TVL for fixed services. This new allocation will be published on ITU Operational Bulletin No 1045 of 2 February 2014.

The Vanuatu Number Allocation Schedule was updated in accordance with the National Numbering Plan and Procedures and is effective as of 15 January 28, 2014.

The Regulator has issued an Order revoking TVL’s dominance in the retail mobile services market. This Order was made on 28 October 2013 after TVL requested for a such review in that market. Read the Order and the reasoning.
